Be Like Bob
Bob Schumann was one of those rare people who made the world better simply by being himself.
A dedicated volunteer with Midwest Australian Shepherd Rescue, Bob unexpectedly passed away in June 2025. He was also a beloved agility instructor at WAG in Spring Grove, Illinois, where he helped countless dogs and their humans build stronger relationships through trust, patience, and understanding. Whether he was encouraging a nervous handler, celebrating a dog's success, or offering a helping hand, Bob had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome.
Bob was a difference-maker. He led with kindness, compassion, and generosity, always willing to help someone in need without expecting anything in return. His impact continues to inspire us every day.
To honor his legacy, we created the Bob Schumann Training Scholarship Program.
This scholarship provides financial assistance to dog owners who want to give their dogs the training they deserve but may not have the financial means to do so. Whether a dog needs help with behavioral challenges, obedience, confidence building, strengthening the human-animal bond, or simply learning the skills to become a happier, more successful companion, we believe every dog deserves that opportunity.
Training changes lives. It helps dogs stay in their homes, strengthens the bond between people and their pets, and creates happier, healthier families. Through this scholarship, we hope to remove financial barriers so more dogs and the people who love them can succeed together.
Bob believed in people. He believed in dogs. Most of all, he believed in helping others. We hope this program carries his spirit forward—one dog, one family, and one act of kindness at a time.
Our world needs more people like Bob. More kindness. More compassion. More generosity. More people willing to lift others up.
That's the legacy Bob left behind, and it's one we are proud to continue.
